D-Fenders Score 134 Points to Roll Past Santa Cruz

By Joey Ramirez | November 20, 2016

Summary
The D-Fenders trailed by one after the first quarter, but they had no trouble taking over the game from there. Los Angeles bulldozed Santa Cruz down low and bombed away from deep to roll to a 134-109 victory over the Warriors.

Player of the Game
Josh Magette: The reigning assists leader proved once again why he is arguably the top point guard in the D-League by racking up 19 points and 17 assists. The D-Fenders were blistering under his direction, outscoring the Warriors by 32 when he was on the floor.

Prospect Watch
Vander Blue (3):
After Blue scored only two points in the first quarter, he quickly morphed into his typically explosive self. The two-time D-League All-Star piled up 28 points on 10-of-15 shooing, knifing to the hoop seemingly at will. He also tallied six rebounds and four assists in his 32 minutes.

Justin Harper (16):
Like most of his teammates, Harper was efficient and hot for nearly the entire night. He scored 19 points on an 8-of-12 clip while also picking up eight rebounds in only 22 minutes.

Lakers Report
Travis Wear: The former New York Knick was clearly the best player in the first half, scoring 23 points with five 3-pointers. However, he took a hard fall just before halftime and did not return to action.

Julian Jacobs: It was a relatively quiet night for Jacobs, who scored four points on 1-of-5 shooting. However, he did add five rebounds and four assists.

Key Stat
51.6: Percentage shot by the D-Fenders from 3-point range. Los Angeles hit 16-of-31 from deep led by Wear’s strong opening half. Magette was also showing off his shot, going 4-of-6 on 3’s.

Looking Ahead
The D-Fenders hope to finish their three-game homestand with another win, as they face Northern Arizona on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Suns tout a couple players with NBA experience: Elijah Millsap and Johnny O’Bryant III.
